Active City

The crisis of physical inactivity impedes us all and has serious consequences in terms of health or economy. As we endeavour to curb this trend and make physical activity become a part of everyday life, action at the local level, including rethinking and redesigning the urban environment, is critical to encourage people to be more active. As the CaOVID-19 pandemic hit countries worldwide, open and public spaces, when available and accessible, have provided a space for people to be outdoors, be active and meet; as sport clubs, gyms, cafés, restaurants, libraries, theatres along with other venues or businesses were closed.

The Workshop “Active Spaces: Fostering Active Communities”, the second in our Mission 2030 Workshop Series, will emphasise the importance of local action in the fight against physical inactivity and how we can effectively leverage open and public spaces to promote physical activity participation and strengthen social ties within the community. Speakers from different backgrounds will introduce what it means to build active spaces, share good practices, and provide directions on how the urban environment and the way citizens evolve in it can be sustainably reshaped to offer safe, welcoming, accessible, and inclusive opportunities for people to be physically active and connect with each other.

Participation to the Workshop is free and open to everyone - Register Now!
