Prague Begins Preparations for the 29th TAFISA World Congress

On 3 September 2024, the first Organizing Committee meeting for the 29th TAFISA World Congress was held in Prague, Czech Republic. Hosted at the iconic Tyršův dům, home of Sokol, the meeting brought together key stakeholders to initiate preparations for what promises to be an impactful event for the global Sport for All movement.

The Organizing Committee members, including Martin Chlumsky (Mayor, Sokol), Janez Sodrznik, MSc (Treasurer, TAFISA), and Finn Berggren (Good Governance Officer, TAFISA), convened to discuss the roadmap leading up to the Congress in 2026. Key agenda items included the Congress logo, program structure, logistical arrangements, and ways to highlight Prague’s rich cultural heritage for visiting delegates. The committee outlined key milestones and established a strategic framework to ensure the smooth and successful delivery of the Congress.

Following the Organizing Committee meeting, on 4 September, a training workshop was held, led by Patrik Perosa, an event expert and organizer of the 27th TAFISA World Congress 2022. The workshop focused on practical steps and detailed preparations, including session requirements, logistical coordination, and key responsibilities to ensure a seamless event. Perosa shared his extensive experience in organizing large-scale events, providing invaluable insights into best practices for Congress planning.

Since 1991, TAFISA World Congresses have been held across the globe, uniting world-renowned experts, researchers, practitioners, decision-makers, and representatives from all continents to discuss the latest developments in the Sport for All movement and shape its future. With its vibrant history and strong commitment to sport, Prague is set to provide the perfect backdrop for the 2026 Congress.
