The annual EU Sport Forum took place this year on March 21st – 23rd in Sofia, Bulgaria. Some 400 delegates from all European countries convened in the Bulgarian capital to discuss hot topics related to the European sports policy. The event gave the opportunity to TAFISA Secretary General Wolfgang Baumann and TAFISA Board Members Dionysios Karakasis and Janez Sodrznik to hand in “Mission 2030: For A Better World Through Sport for All” to EU Commissioner for Sport Tibor Navracsics, who received it with high interest.
Two other highlights of the Forum were the 1st TAFISA European Sport for All Games networking corner, as the Games’ Organising Committee’s Director Anne Jochum dae Vries animated a stand and promoted the event to participants, as well as the panel session on “Does sport help the development of cities and regions?”, where TAFISA’s Junior Director Jean-Francois Laurent shared views on the role of Active Cities and presented the Active Well-being Initiative’s Global Active City Programme. The Global Active City partner cities of Lillehammer, Ljubljana and Hamburg gave more strength to the message by presenting the good work they are doing in their municipalities.
