Physical Activity Policies at Municipal Level In Europe

TAFISA is proud to announce that the results of the Europe-wide survey led by ICSSPE and Sport and Citizenship, as well as all PACTE project (Promoting Active Cities Throughout Europe) partners including TAFISA, were released during the PACTE Active Education Workshop in Berlin, Germany, on 21 – 22 February 2019. Organised by project partner the European Physical Education Association (EUPEA), in partnership with the Think Tank Sport and Citizenship and TAFISA, the workshop explored how the education sector can contribute to make our cities more active, as well as how municipalities can activate schools and universities.

Some 50 participants from all over Europe and Germany attended the workshop and showcased good practices including, among others:

  • The cities of Guimaraes, Lisbon, Viana do Castelo, Funchal (Portugal), Turku (Finland)
  • MOEV (Belgium)
  • The ASC Project by BG Be Active (Bulgaria)
  • The Bikeability project by Bikeability (UK) and the UCI (Switzerland)
  • The German Athletics Federation

The workshop was also the opportunity for participants and project partners to review the “Active City Matrix” that is currently being developed and will support cities engage policies and strategies in the field of physical activity Europe-wide. Tools that are developed include an action plan & self-evaluation system, good practices, recommendations, quick wins and others.
