[Video] - Relive our Webinar on Sport for All Diplomacy

On 14 May, TAFISA hosted a webinar on Sport for All Diplomacy: Contributing to strengthening Global Connections. This event, the sixth in the new Mission 2030 Series cycle, attracted attendees from around the globe, with over 500 registrations, and featured participation from highly qualified experts in the field. Their involvement elevated the discussion on Sport for All and how it can serve as a strategic instrument for diplomacy.

The invited experts from diverse backgrounds and experience in diplomacy engaged deeply with the topic, guided by moderator Fahmida Faiza, a Sport diplomacy expert. J Simon Rofe from the University of Leeds opened the event with an insightful presentation, highlighting the concept of Sport for All diplomacy, the dimensions of Sport diplomacy, and its core characteristics. He also stressed that diplomacy is not limited to Ambassadors but a part of our day-to-day engagement, as communication, negotiation, and representation are the key pillars of diplomacy.

Silvija Mitevska, Managing Director, Sport Social Solutions, presented a case study introducing the challenges and opportunities of Sport for All diplomacy. She also shared the experiences and learnings from an initiative carried out in North Macedonia.

The panel discussions featured valuable insights from Nasser Al Khori from Generation Amazing, Po Chun Liu from Taiwan Sport Forward Association, Gavin Price from Sports Diplomacy Alliance, Carole Gomez from the University of Lausanne, and Nico Schiettekatte from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in India. The panelists discussed practical examples of how Sport diplomacy has contributed to easing global conflicts in the past, lessons learnt from using sport as a tool for dialogue in communities affected by conflict, and also how sport diplomacy differs from other forms of diplomacy.

The real-time interaction during the webinar added a dynamic atmosphere to the session. Several questions were raised and answered, indicating active involvement and enthusiasm among all participants.
