World Walking Day 2025: the world walks together once again!

On 5 October 2025, communities around the globe came together for World Walking Day 2025, a celebration of unity, inclusion, and the power of Sport for All. Building on last year's global success, this event once again connected people across continents, cultures, and time zones in a truly global relay of movement and solidarity.

This year's World Walking Day saw remarkable engagement, with over 80 countries represented and more than 220 individual registrations. Over 200 organizations, including TAFISA members, local governments, schools, community groups, and more, joined the global movement, bringing the total participation to more than 160,000 people worldwide.

The baton was passed in Australia, Armenia, Barbados, Benin, Botswana, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Canada, China, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Costa Rica, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the Dominican Republic, Eswatini, Ethiopia, Fiji, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Guinea, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Iran, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kenya, Latvia, Lesotho, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Other, Pakistan, Peru, the Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Rwanda, Saint Lucia, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Slovakia, Somalia, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Tanzania, Togo, Trinidad and Tobago, Tunisia, Uganda, Ukraine, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom, the United States, Uruguay, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Participants of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds took part, embodying the values of inclusion, health, and joy through walking. The symbolic passing of the baton once again represented a shared global commitment to building healthier, more active communities, while promoting peace, sustainability, and well-being through Sport for All.

Social media channels, including Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn, lit up with stories, videos, and photos from participants, making 2025 one of the most vibrant and connected years yet. From sunrise walks to late-night community relays, the spirit of togetherness and positivity shone brightly across the world.
