Dear members of the Global Sport for All Movement,
As 2025 comes to an end and I take stock of TAFISA's activities and new developments, I feel grateful towards our members and partners for their contributions and support towards our success.
This year has indeed been a successful one for the organization. I am proud to say that together, we have managed to make the organization grow, increasing our services to members, partners, and the global Sport for All Movement. This was demonstrated across many highlights, a few of which include:
- On 5 October, over 160,000 people across more than 80 countries worldwide joined the TAFISA World Walking Day.
- Supported by the IOC through its Olympism365 strategy, our global framework for community empowerment through capacity building – SUCCEED – continues to develop and facilitate collaboration and joint action for greater impact.
- The Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway project has expanded to new communities and Nike has confirmed funding for its implementation for the next few years.
- Our efforts towards regional outreach have built on the previous year's momentum, as the TAFISA European Forum held in Frankfurt with the support of the State of Hesse and City of Frankfurt welcomed 120 participants across 33 countries to exchange on regional issues and strengthen cooperation.
- Through the REACH project, we have launched and trained a Youth Task Force to foster youth leadership in Sport for All.
- Throughout the year, 1388 participants from over 90 countries joined our Mission 2030 webinars.
- We are leading or partnering in various collaborative projects and events promoting Sport for All together, joined by our members and partner organizations.
- We have strengthened our bonds with our partners and stakeholders over the year, including the African Union, UNESCO, Council of Europe, European Commission, IOC, etc.
- We have signed Memorandum of Understanding confirming our partnership with IWG Women & Sport and with the Global Observatory for Gender Equality & Sport (GO), two leading organizations in their field.
Looking back at what we have accomplished together with our members and partners this year, I am optimistic for the future and what 2026 will bring.
I look forward to meeting you next year at the TAFISA World Congress in Prague, Czechia, on 13-17 May 2026 (
register here), which will include our TAFISA General Assembly on 15 May 2026. You are also invited to join us and the already confirmed delegations from our members at the European Sport for All Games in Limerick, Ireland on 6-11 August 2026.
I extend warm wishes for a joyous, healthy, and rejuvenating holiday season and hope to see you next year to further carry out our collective mission towards a better world through Sport for All.
Warm regards,
Wolfgang Baumann
TAFISA President
