Organising Committee Meets in Limerick Ahead of the European Sport for All Games 2026 in August

On 19  March , the Organising Committee of the European Sport for All Games 2026 met in Limerick, Ireland. TAFISA, Limerick Sports Partnership and Limerick City and County Council the Committee came together in preparation for the upcoming TAFISA European Sport for All Games taking place on 6 - 11 August 2026.

The full-day meeting served as a crucial checkpoint to assess progress, address expectations, and ensure that every detail is aligned with the vision of delivering a memorable celebration where the streets and parks of Limerick will come alive with new and diverse traditional sports and games from across Europe. The Limerick Sports Partnership emphasised the significance of this event; to promote community engagement, encourage local participation, and foster inclusion and friendship among the attendees, delegations and spectators alike.

The five-day event will bring together over 250 participants from over 30 European delegations, transforming parks, streets and public spaces into a vibrant and colourful celebration of traditional sports, games, heritage and culture. Demonstrations and performances will take place across the city, and people of all ages and abilities will be welcomed to take part.

As Ireland takes over the EU Presidency in July, Patrick O'Donovan TD, Minister for Arts, Culture, Communications and Sports in Ireland, highlights the value of the Games:

"The European Sport For All Games 2026 represents everything that is positive about sport in terms of participation, inclusion and community. As Ireland holds the EU Presidency in 2026, it is particularly fitting that Limerick will welcome delegations from across Europe in a celebration of culture, heritage and active living. I'm confident Limerick will provide the warmest of welcomes to our visitors and embrace this unique celebration of traditional sports and games."

The Games are being organised by Limerick Sports Partnership and TAFISA in collaboration with Limerick City and County Council, University of Limerick, Sport Ireland, and co-funded by the European Union. For more detailed information, please visit limericksportforall.ie.
