Project partners of the
ACT RISE Project came together in Prague before the TAFISA World Congress 2026 to strengthen collaboration, exchange progress updates, and further advance the project's mission of promoting inclusion, participation, and empowerment through sport and physical activity.
The meeting provided an important opportunity for partners to reflect on the project's achievements so far and discuss upcoming activities, such as the upcoming CLC training in Chisináu, Moldova. It also served as a space to explore new ways of creating positive social impact within communities across Europe, particularly in Romania, Moldova, Ukraine, and neighbouring countries.
ACT RISE Presented during TAFISA World Congress 2026
ACT RISE Project Partners attended the TAFISA World Congress 2026 where the project was proudly presented as a case study during the session Displacement, Migration, and Belonging: the Role of Sport in Integrating Refugees and Migrants on 14 May.
The session, moderated by Frigga Franke and Helena Moya Bataller, brought together international experts and practitioners exploring how sport can foster belonging, social inclusion, and integration for displaced communities and migrants worldwide. One message that strongly resonated throughout the discussion on the role of sport in the integration of refugees and migrants was: "Arriving does not mean belonging." This reminder, also highlighted during the impulse speech by Michaela Röhrbein, Executive Board member of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), underlined that true inclusion goes far beyond providing access, requiring instead a multifaceted approach that fosters connection, participation, and a genuine sense of belonging. The panel discussion that followed featured contributions from the following representatives:
- Stanislas Frossard, EPAS, Council of Europe, France
- Simon Peter Tumukunde, Cheza, Uganda
- Maxim Zorchin, Sporter, Moldova
ACTRISE (co-financed by the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Program) was presented by Anca-Maria Ionescu as a case-study, showcasing the project's approach and impact in supporting inclusive and active communities. The discussion reinforced the growing recognition of sport and physical activity as powerful tools for social cohesion, intercultural dialogue, and community resilience.
Participation in the TAFISA World Congress further strengthened ACT RISE's international visibility and created valuable opportunities for networking, knowledge exchange, and future cooperation with global stakeholders committed to Sport for All.
