TAFISA - The Association For International Sport for All

Governance, Leadership and Integrity - TAFISA Mission 2030 theme

Good governance and safeguarding are at the core of TAFISA's values. Their principles are embedded within the strategic and operational management of the organisation, ensuring that TAFISA acts with accountability, transparency and integrity, and that the global Sport for All Movement is a safe, respectful and inclusive environment for everyone.

The TAFISA Executive Office and Board of Directors ensure respect for the TAFISA Statutes, the Code of Ethics and bylaws, including the Code of Conduct for Integrity and the TAFISA Safeguarding Policy.

TAFISA believes that everyone involved in Sport for All - staff, volunteers, officials, members and participants - has the right to take part free from harassment, abuse, discrimination and exploitation, and applies a zero-tolerance approach to all forms of misconduct.

One of TAFISA's Mission 2030 themes is Governance, Leadership and Integrity. TAFISA believes that to drive change, the Global Sport for All Movement must:

  • Publicly adopt principles of good governance, integrity and safeguarding, leading by example.
  • Instil values of fair play, participation, respect and positive leadership.

Finn Berggren

Independent Good Governance Officer

In accordance with the TAFISA Code of Conduct for Integrity, the TAFISA General Assembly elected Finn Berggren as the independent Good Governance Officer of TAFISA on 3 November 2023. In addition to a preventive, advisory role for all employees and office-bearers (for instance, in the event of potential conflicts of interest), the Good Governance Officer is also responsible for:

  • Examining possible breaches
  • Assessing their relevance and issuing recommendations to the relevant decision-making body on how to proceed

The Good Governance Officer also has a right of initiative if he/she is not requested to become active directly but gains knowledge of possible incidents from external sources. The Good Governance Officer shall always be in charge in the case of breaches of the rules by members of the Board of Directors or Executive Board (investigation, dealing with the events, and action to be taken in response).

Contact: TAFISA members are welcome to contact the Good Governance Officer at any time to raise relevant issues: goodgovernance@tafisa.org.

Safeguarding Officers

In line with the TAFISA Safeguarding Policy, the TAFISA Board of Directors has nominated two independent Safeguarding Officers with experience and training in safeguarding. They are the main point of contact for safeguarding matters and are responsible for receiving and handling reports, offering advice and support to anyone affected, and ensuring that every case is dealt with confidentially, fairly and in accordance with TAFISA's regulations.

At TAFISA flagship events, dedicated Event Safeguarding Officers are also available on site.
