TAFISA - The Association For International Sport for All

TAFISA's organizational structure ensures transparent governance, accountability, and effective coordination between its decision-making bodies and operational team. The association is guided by the General Assembly, Executive Board, and Board of Directors, and supported by the TAFISA Executive Office in Frankfurt, Germany. Together, these bodies work to uphold TAFISA's mission and vision.

Organizational Chart

General Assembly

The General Assembly is TAFISA's supreme decision-making body, composed of representatives from all member organizations. It meets biennially to review progress, set strategic priorities, and make key decisions on the association's policies, activities, and overall direction. The General Assembly also elects the Board of Directors and approves major governance matters, including the host of flagship events and strategic plans.

Board of Directors

Elected by the General Assembly, the Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and oversight to TAFISA's global operations. The Board sets long-term goals, approves major initiatives and partnerships, and monitors the organization's progress towards achieving its mission. Board Members also represent TAFISA in international events, ensuring the association's values and objectives are reflected across the Sport for All movement.

Executive Board

The Executive Board acts on behalf of the Board of Directors between its meetings, ensuring continuity in leadership and strategic oversight. In accordance with German law, the Executive Board consists of the President, Secretary General, and Treasurer. It holds the legal authority to represent TAFISA and is responsible for steering the organization's daily governance, providing guidance on key initiatives, and supporting the TAFISA Executive Office in implementing the decisions of the Board and General Assembly.

Executive Office

The TAFISA Executive Office is responsible for the operational management and implementation of TAFISA's activities, programs, and events. Led by the Secretary General, the Office supports the Board and Members, coordinates international and regional projects, manages communications with its members, and ensures the effective delivery of TAFISA's mission. Based in Frankfurt, Germany, the team operates with the support of dedicated staff, interns, volunteers and external consultants. 

Committees and Commissions

To support its governance and operations, the TAFISA Board of Directors may establish committees, commissions, or appoint special advisors to carry out specific tasks and provide expert guidance. These bodies help strengthen TAFISA's decision-making, ensure effective implementation of key initiatives, and offer specialised input on areas such as governance, programmes, and development within the global Sport for All movement.
