TAFISA met for the first time with the African Union Sport Council Region 5 (AUSC) in Gaborone, Botswana.

TAFISA met for the first time with the African Union Sport Council Region 5 (AUSC) in Gaborone, Botswana, on the 12th of June 2017. The AUSC\'s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Stanley Mutoya and TAFISA\'s Manager for Programmes and Events Mr. Jean-Francois Laurent discussed opportunities for cooperation and identified areas where both organisations could support each other promote Sport for All and Physical Activity in this region.

The AUSC represents 10 countries, namely Angola, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Its mandate and priorities include:

  • Physical Education, Sport and Recreation
  • Capacity Development
  • Good Governance
  • Organisation of AUSC Under 20 Games
  • Regional Annual Sports Awards
  • Sport for Development
  • Elite Sports Development.

This meeting preceded the Certified Leadership Course TAFISA organised that week (12th â€\" 17th June) in partnership with IWG, the International Working Group on Women and Sport.
