A highlight of the 25th TAFISA World Congress 2017, Seoul, Korea, the TAFISA General Assembly took place on November 16th. Conducted every two years as part of the TAFISA World Congress, the TAFISA General Assembly is where major decisions happen, such as the elections of the TAFISA President and Board Members, the approval of new TAFISA members, or the voting of the next TAFISA Congresses and global events.
Well over two hundred participants attended the TAFISA General Assembly 2017, including the TAFISA National Members entitled to vote on each item of the agenda.

TAFISA thanked its previous Board Members (2013 - 2017) and the General Assembly approved their actions during their term.
A new Board of Directors was then elected for the next 4-year term (2017 - 2021). The new Board Members are: Ju-ho Chang (Korea) [President], Wolfgang Baumann (Germany) [Secretary General], Herzel Hagay (Israel) [Treasurer], Catherine Forde (Trinidad & Tobago), Liu Guoyong (China), Peter Barendse (Netherlands), Leonard Thadeo (Tanzania), Yasuo Yamaguchi (Japan), Mitra Rouhi Dehkordi (Iran), Dionysis Karakasis (Greece), Janez Sodrznik (Slovenia) and Solly Solomon Reikeletseng (Botswana). The TAFISA General Assembly elected Ljubljana, Slovenia, represented by the National Olympic Committee of Slovenia and Sports Union Slovenia, to host the 27th TAFISA World Congress 2021.
As TAFISA prides itself in following the principles of good governance and transparency, and in accordance with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, TAFISA endeavoured to update its statutes and create a set of bylaws to better align with these principles.

"Mission 2030 - For a Better World Through Sport for All" is set to be the road map not only for TAFISA but for the Global Sport for All movement and beyond, in order to tackle the Global epidemic of physical inactivity and contribute to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals through Sport for All. The following were elected TAFISA Honorary Members in recognition of their contribution to TAFISA and the Sport for All Movement as former TAFISA Board Members: Prof. Erdal Zorba (Turkey) and Mr. Jianzhong Feng (China).
The General Assembly approved an increase of TAFISA Membership fees starting 2018. This rise is as follows:
