We invite leaders of Sport for Development and Peace (SDP) organisations to take part in an international research survey titled "Gender Representation and Inclusion in the Leadership and Governance of SDP Organisations", supported by the Global Observatory for Gender Equality & Sport (GO).
The survey aims to develop a better understanding of the extent to which the leadership and governance of the SDP sector is gender representative and inclusive. Findings will be used to inform recommendations for future practice and research. The project is led by Dr Lucy Piggott at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
This survey updates a 2021 global survey, published in 2024 in the Journal of Sport for Development. New data collected in the 2026 survey round will contribute to the development of a global tracker on gender representation and inclusion in SDP leadership and governance, to be published on the GO's website. This research addresses an important gap, as leadership demographics in SDP organisations are not yet systematically tracked, despite the sector's significant global role.
Participation involves completing a short online survey (approximately 15 minutes) on behalf of your organisation. The survey collects basic organisational information (e.g. size, focus areas, geographic scope, annual budget) as well as data on the gender composition of staff and leadership teams.
