BNOC Hosts Inspiring Launch of TAFISA's CLC Level 1 in Mahalapye, Botswana

From 4 – 7 August 2025, the Botswana National Olympic Committee (BNOC) hosted the first level of the TAFISA Certified Leadership Course (CLC) in Mahalapye in partnership with Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC). The course brought together a dynamic group of 39 participants representing district sport bodies, local clubs and community organizations.

The Opening Ceremony was marked by powerful words from BNOC President Colonel Botsang Tshenyego, Chairman of the Mahalapye District Council Hon. Outule Segolame, and representatives from the Parliament Office and the Department of Sport in Mahalapye, highlighting the importance of local leadership in driving inclusive sport development.

Facilitated by Game Mothibi and Tapiwa Masunga, the four-day course brought participants together to explore the foundations of Sport for All, examine key policies and strategies, and strengthen their leadership skills to drive social change through sport in their communities. The CLC's interactive format offered a rich platform for discussion, networking, and peer learning, empowering participants to build a shared vision for a more inclusive, active world.

As part of the course, participants will now begin working in groups to design community-based Sport for All projects tailored to their local contexts. These project ideas will be further developed and presented during CLC Level 2, offering a practical pathway to translate knowledge into action.

The CLC is part of TAFISA's SUCCEED Framework and is delivered in partnership with the International Olympic Committee through the Olympism365 strategy.
Looking ahead, CLC Level 2 will be held in November 2025, building on the foundational work of Level 1. Participants will delve into thematic modules aligned with TAFISA's Mission 2030, applying their learnings to address local priorities and accelerate Sport for All on the ground.
