TAFISA attended the World Ethnosport Confederation’s 2nd International Ethnosport Forum which was held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from 20 to 21 April, 2019.  This event was hosted by WEC-member Kazakhstan Ethnosport Association with the theme “Back to Roots. Reviving Traditional Sports”.  It provided a platform for delegates from around the world to discuss issues relating to Traditional Sports and Games, such as “The importance of government support for TSG” and “Approaches regarding the standardisation of rules within TSG”.  This short but intense programme also included a field trip to the Asian Championship on Traditional Sports.

While attending the 2nd Ethnosport Forum in Almaty, Kazakhstan, an opportunity arose for TAFISA and TAFISA Kazakhstan to meet and discuss the existing partnership and future plans. TAFISA Business Development and Fundraising Manager Keri McDonald met with TAFISA Kazakhstan President Alfiya Kalmaganbetova and TAFISA Kazakhstan Secretary General Alfiya Sabitova on Monday 22 April and fruitful discussions took place regarding the current relationship between the organisations, as well as potential future collaborative areas.
