The HPS-COACH-Edu (Health Promoting Sports Organisations: Capacity building for coach education across Europe) project held its first in-person meeting since the project started in January 2025.

The hybrid meeting was held on 25 March and was hosted by TAFISA in Frankfurt, Germany. The project is led by Université de Lorraine, along with the support of the other project partners: Société Française de Santé Publique, Gaelic Athletic Association, Technological University of Shannon, Örebro University, KU Leuven University, University of Jyväskylä, ENGSO, and EVALEO.

The one-day meeting started by addressing the current landscape of online training for sport coaches, focusing on health promotion, the analysis and gaps found within this field, and the methodology for co-construction of the workshops that will be implemented to collect data and build the capacity-building platform. Within this section, partners also reflected on general requirements that the platform should include or avoid, concerns on accessibility, inclusivity, or ethical issues.

The platform is one of the most significant deliverables of this project, aiming to build capacity among national sports federations and universities (primary and direct target group) to empower sports coaches (secondary and indirect target) to promote health, through the development of bespoke health promotion coach education.

As a final consideration, partners discussed the dissemination strategy and direct communications that the project could implement to ensure a wider outreach, the targeted indicators, and a sustainable legacy.

The day ended with sightseeing and a dinner in Frankfurt Höchst, a beautiful neighborhood where the TAFISA Headquarters are located.
