The TAFISA Board of Directors, led by President Mr Janez Sodržnik, was in Gaborone from 11 to 15 October for high-level engagements ahead of the 30th TAFISA World Congress.
The Board paid a courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Sport and Arts, Mr Jacob Kelebeng, accompanied by BNSC Chairperson Mr Goitseone Gadifele and Organising Committee Chairperson Mr Molefhi Obenne. The Minister reaffirmed the Government's commitment to advancing Sport for All, healthy lifestyles and social cohesion through sport.

Alongside the Board visit, TAFISA delivered a capacity-building programme from 12 to 16 October. It included a Level 1 Certified Leadership Course, Active Cities Capacity Training to support Gaborone's ambition to become the first Global Active City in Africa, and INTERACT+ Training for National Sport Associations.
The visit also provided an opportunity to hold high-level meetings to build local engagement ahead of the 30th TAFISA World Congress. The Board met with the French Ambassador to Botswana, Ms Valérie Baraban; the Consul General of France in Johannesburg (and former French Ambassador for Sport), Mr Samuel Ducroquet; AUSC Region 5 CEO Mr Stanley Mutoya; and Sport for Social Change Network CEO Mr Allan Williams.
The Board also visited the Diamond Trading Company Botswana, which will support the 30th TAFISA World Congress. In addition, the Congress Organising Committee shared updates on preparations and led a tour of the Congress venue.
A big thank you to the Government of Botswana, the Botswana National Sport Commission, the Organising Committee and all partners for their warm welcome and commitment.
