TAFISA President Opens Certified Leadership Course in Gaborone

On 13 October 2026, TAFISA President Janez Sodržnik officially opened the TAFISA Certified Leadership Course (CLC) in Gaborone, Botswana, during the TAFISA Board's visit to the country.

Addressing participants at the opening, President Sodržnik shared his vision of expanding the CLC to more countries and reaching more community sport leaders around the world. He also expressed his intention to create more opportunities during his Presidency to connect with CLC participants and hear about the work they are doing in their communities.

His message placed local leadership at the heart of TAFISA's global mission: of supporting people who turn the principles of Sport for All into practical opportunities for their communities.

With Gaborone preparing to host the 30th TAFISA World Congress in October 2027, under the theme "Sport for All: Investing in Active Futures," President Sodržnik encouraged participants to support the preparations and contribute to a successful Congress.

The Acting Sport Development Director of the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC), Mr Kealeboga Keitseng, thanked TAFISA for bringing the course to Botswana. He highlighted the importance of ensuring that the knowledge and investment generated through the programme contribute to a lasting legacy beyond the 30th TAFISA World Congress.

The Director of Sport at the Ministry of Sport and Arts (MOSA), Mr Moeti Godisamang, encouraged participants to stay committed to the learning process, share their experiences and apply their knowledge to strengthen Sport for All initiatives in their communities and across the country, in line with MOSA's strategy.

The opening was more than the start of a training course. It was a call to invest in people who can help make sport and physical activity more accessible, inclusive and meaningful, and ensure that the impact of Gaborone 2027 continues well beyond the event.
The course is fully supported by BNSC in partnership with TAFISA and MOSA.
