The 2018 World Challenge Day which was held on the 30th May was the most triumphant so far, with a remarkable 52 million participants from 51 countries contributing towards the phenomenal success of the event.
Since its inception in 1991, the annual TAFISA World Challenge Day has grown significantly which has led to an exceptionally positive impact on physical activity levels worldwide.
As an international competition, similar-sized communities - from four continents - were pitted against each other to challenge who could motivate the highest number of community members to participate in 15 minutes of physical activity in one single day. The response from communities this year was fantastic, with a variety of activities taking place for all ages and fitness levels.
As well as paired rivalries, all communities were entered in the TAFISA World Challenge Day Cup. In total, 61 communities from 51 countries were divided in five categories based on population size. The percentage of population that each community motivated to participate in 15 minutes of physical activity was recorded and the results of the TAFISA World Challenge Day Cup are as follows:
