TAFISA Strengthens Ties with the Pacific Islands

Developing Sport for All and physical activity participation in Oceania is a priority for TAFISA. Following their kind invitation, TAFISA Special Advisor for Oceania Wendy Gillett and Junior Director Jean-Francois Laurent joined the General Assemblies and workshops of the Oceania National Olympic Committees (ONOC), Olympic Sport Federations of Oceania (OSFO) and Pacific Games Council (PCG), held on 12 â€\" 17 June 2018 in Apia, Samoa.

The week of events was the opportunity for TAFISA to meet new partners and stakeholders, as well as build an understanding of the challenges and needs of the region. Meetings, among others, were held with the UNESCO Oceania Office, Pacific Sport Compass and Pacific Sports Partnership, as well numerous Oceanian NOCs.

In the following months, TAFISA will work hands in hands with representatives of the region to establish a strategy for the development of Sport for All and Physical Activity in the Pacific Islands.

TAFISA extends its gratitude to Dr. Robin Mitchell and Mr. Dennis Miller, President and Executive Director of ONOC, Mr. Chet Gray, Secretary General of OSFO, as well as Mr. Andrew Minogue, Executive Director of PCG, for their warm welcome and openness. We look forward to establishing a meaningful cooperation.
