Kicks Off the 2026 - 2027 Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway

The 2026 - 2027 cycle of the Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway has officially begun, marking the start of another year of global collaboration to strengthen safe, inclusive, and gender-responsive coaching for girls.

This week, TAFISA welcomed 12 implementing partners to the programme through the first onboarding sessions, bringing together organisations from Africa, the Americas, and Asia, alongside International Federations and the programme's Regional Trainers.

The new cohort reflects the growing global reach of the Pathway. From Uganda to Colombia, India to Japan, St. Vincent and the Grenadines to Botswana, each organisation brings unique expertise and local context, while sharing a common commitment to ensuring that girls everywhere can participate in sport in environments that are safe, positive, and empowering.

The onboarding sessions introduced the overall programme framework, implementation timeline, monitoring and reporting requirements, communication expectations, and the key milestones for the year ahead. Partners also gained an overview of the cascade training model that underpins the Pathway.

Over the coming weeks, the programme will enter its next phase with the delivery of the Training of Trainers (ToT). Implementing partners will nominate Local Trainers, who will be trained by the programme's Regional Trainers before leading coach workshops in their respective countries. This cascading approach enables the Pathway to strengthen local capacity and create sustainable impact within communities.

By investing in coach education, the Girls Positive and Safe Coaching Pathway seeks to create sustainable, system-level change. Rather than focusing solely on individual workshops, the programme builds local capacity that continues to benefit communities long after the initial training has been completed.

TAFISA looks forward to supporting this new cohort as they turn learning into action and help create more opportunities for girls to thrive through sport!
