On August 3-7 2018, Fryslân, a province in the Northern part of The Netherlands, will host the 1st TAFISA European Sport for All Games. During these 5 days Fryslân will be the backdrop for European Traditional Sports and Games.

The emphasis is on regionally recognised and traditional European sports, such as the typical Frisian sport fierljeppen (a type of pole vaulting), skûtsjesilen (boat racing with old freighters) and keatsen (a game resembling cricket). Those sports and other traditional sports from all over Europe will be combined in a natural and innovative way with modern sports. The days will be filled with demonstrations and open programmes of all these sports and games on different locations in Fryslân. During the closing day there will be a Congress about Traditional Sport and Games and several other grassroot sport related subjects.

Simultaneously another major event takes place. In 2018 Fryslân and the capital of Leeuwarden is European Capital of Culture. This makes the European Sport for All Games 2018 a melting pot of sports and culture and an unforgettable event. The Netherlands and especially Fryslân are looking forward to this fascinating spectacle of sports, culture and social commitment.

The preparation of the 1st TAFISA European Sport for All Games makes good progress. At this moment 12 international delegations are partner of the event and therefore in the programme of the 1st TAFISA European Sport for All Games.

Stay tuned! The Dutch Organising Committee of the 1st TAFISA European sport for All Games will come with more information on how to join soon
