TAFISA attended the inaugural meeting of the Open Ended Working Group on Model Indicators on Sport and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).  This meeting took place on Thursday 13th September 2018 at the Commonwealth Secretariat Headquarters in London.  The Open Ended Working Group is being formed to support the delivery of Action 2 of the Kazan Action Plan, which was adopted at MINEPS VI on 15 July 2017 and is focused on ‘developing common indicators for measuring the contribution of physical education, physical activity and sport to prioritise SDGs and targets’.  The objective of the meeting was to refine and validate the focus, methodology and delivery plan for the collaborative, international initiative.

The programme included presentations from keynote speakers on topics such as Alignment of National Sport Polices to the Sustainable Development Goals and each presentation was followed by an opportunity for in-depth discussions amongst participants.  Additionally, interactive focus groups took place whereby participants were given the option of attending one of three sessions to further discuss a set topic, with conclusions presented back to all attendees.  The next working group meeting will take place in 2019.
