The Sports and Physical Activity in Cultural Heritage Environments (SPACHE) has successfully concluded its two-year implementation plan on 30 June, 2023, encompassing seven work packages. The project aimed to increase awareness, generate knowledge and build capacities that would facilitate the integration of cultural heritage and sport/physical activity initiatives.

The primary goals of the SPACHE project were to make sport and physical activity more engaging, foster a cross-sectoral approach in the fields of sport and cultural heritage, promote active lifestyles through sport, enhance outdoor physical activity, encourage participatory planning in sport, and establish evidence-based policies in the field. The project also sought to harness the power of culture and cultural diversity for social cohesion and well-being.

Throughout the project, TAFISA led the implementation of Work Package 5 and, as part of its efforts, developed capacity-building guidelines and modules, drawing insights from literature reviews, good practices analysis, and the social impact assessment of pilot programmes.

The SPACHE team delivered all project milestones on schedule, meeting the desired quality.

Looking forward, it is hoped that the program's legacy will persist through the continued involvement of project partners and stakeholders. TAFISA is thrilled to incorporate the outcomes of SPACHE into its Mission 2030, with a specific emphasis on cultural heritage and diversity.

SPACHE (Sport and Physical Activity in Cultural Heritage Environments) is an initiative funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Sport programme. Developed by a partnership of nine actors, the project aimed to explore the integration of non-competitive physical activities and sports with the exploration of natural and historical heritage. Additionally, it sought to contribute to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge in these areas.
