As the date of the Congress draws near, the programme draft outlines the different sessions of the Congress and the inspiring speakers who will contribute to its success. Built on the experience of the previous Congresses and feedback from participants, the programme is designed around the events that make each TAFISA World Congress truly unique and memorable:

The TAFISA General Assembly will take place on November 16, 2017 during the 25th TAFISA World Congress in Seoul, Korea. This year's session will be of particular importance as the Board of Directors will be renewed through elections. All TAFISA Members are invited to attend and contribute to the future of TAFISA.

Six months after the launch of the project, the European TSG Platform is taking shape.

Fighting against doping at grassroots sport level is of paramount importance. Understanding the factors that can lead to dangerous behaviour is equally crucial.

TAFISA and the International Working Group on Women and Sport (IWG) are proud to have partnered to organise a first Certified Leadership Course in Gaborone, Botswana (13 – 16 June 2017). Over 4 days, some 70 participants were specifically trained on the topic of volunteerism and Sport for All.

TAFISA met for the first time with the African Union Sport Council Region 5 (AUSC) in Gaborone, Botswana, on the 12th of June 2017. The AUSC’s Chief Executive Officer Mr. Stanley Mutoya and TAFISA’s Manager for Programmes and Events Mr. Jean-Francois Laurent discussed opportunities for cooperation and identified areas where both organisations could support each other promote Sport for All and Physical Activity in this region.

From the 20th to 21st of May 2017, an International Traditional Sports and Games (TSG) Meeting took place in Évora/Arraiolos, in the centre of Portugal. It was also the occasion to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the traditional “Malha” game through a competition involving several hundreds of players.

IOC President, Thomas Bach, and TAFISA President, Ju-Ho Chang, met on May 17 at IOC headquarters in Lausanne and confirmed their intention to build a stronger, longer-term alliance for Sport for All, and sustainable grassroots legacy.

TAFISA is pleased and honoured to announce that TAFISA Secretary General Wolfgang Baumann was again appointed member of the IOC Sport and Active Society Commission. 

The Commission reports to the IOC and provides advice and expertise on how Sport can help promote physical activity in the society. 

Some fifteen cities across all continents attended the Global Active City Development Event organised in the precincts of the Landessportbund Hessen, near Frankfurt’s famed Commerzbank Arena, on April 19^th – 21^st.
